The Story of LOT 32 Flower Farm
When I started this flower farm seven years ago, I honestly didn’t know what my intentions were. I just knew I wanted to do something with the land we had purchased.
My love of flowers began with my mom, who worked in a flower shop in high school and often took me with her to the Los Angeles Flower Market to pick out blooms to arrange for friends and events. I also gained invaluable experience with flowers from my friend and talented floral designer, Ashley Tatum.
While still in California, I helped with flowers for friends’ and family weddings. That early exposure planted the seed for everything that would come later.
Why Lot 32?
In my second year of flower farming, I knew the farm needed a name. I wanted it to honor my mom, but her name didn’t quite roll off the tongue or feel like the right fit for the space. I thought about it constantly, but nothing stuck.
Around that time, my wonderful neighbors Erik and Lillian, who have since moved away, gifted me a few books and a framed land map as they packed up their home. They shared bits of local history and pointed me toward specific pages in one of the books. That night, I opened it and began reading.
What I read was all about the settling of Argyle, now Greenwich, NY and specifically about this land. When all was said and done, Alexander MacNaughton and his grown children were granted 600 acres on present-day Christie Road. The parcel, described as “north of the Battenkill and about three miles south of Lake Cossayuna,” was known as Lot 32.
And just like that, I had the name. Lot 32 Flower Farm was born.
I think my mom, with her love of history, would approve of the name LOT 32. Though if you knew her, she’d probably insist I still name a structure after her, maybe the greenhouse. This farm reflects not only my journey into flower farming, but also the influences, lessons, and quiet inspirations passed down to me through family, friendships, and the land itself.
Meet the owner…
Hi, I’m Erin Luciani. I’ve traveled a lot and love seeing new places, but I’ve also learned how deeply I love home; this farm, this land, and the rhythm of the seasons. I spent many years teaching, along with a few other odd jobs, but nothing has ever felt at home and right as this.
I feel the most content and fulfilled when my hands are dirty and my arms are full of beautiful blooms, knowing how much happiness they will bring to others. The world can always use more kindness and beauty, and flowers are the way I can do my part. I share the farm with my Charlie and Cooper. Cooper (the border collie) is the farm manager, or at least he thinks so. Charlie is our “hype girl” who is only here for the fun and some serious kisses. Along with a them there is a crew of the most fabulous ladies & a few gents, who make the magic happen every season!
What we do…
Lot 32 Flower Farm is a place where flowers are grown with care, intention, and respect for the land. What began as an exploration has grown into a working flower farm shaped by experience, creativity, and community.
When you stop by to pick up a bouquet or attend a workshop, you’re welcome to browse the book that inspired the farm’s name and take a look at the framed map of the original Argyle patent.
My own journey and the stories of this land are woven together, connecting this farm to its past and grounding every bloom we grow in both history and heart.
We hope to see you soon at the farm, at the Cambridge Farmer’s Market on Sundays during the season or at a wedding or other event!
